FAQs about the Siesta Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear

Is the Siesta Nasal Mask compatible with all CPAP Machines?

The Siesta Nasal Mask is compatible with every CPAP machine except for the ResMed AirMini. The AirMini uses a smaller hose design that is only compatible with certain masks. To use the Siesta Nasal Mask with an AirMini Travel CPAP, you’ll need the Zephair Universal Adapter, which enables you to use a standard hose diameter that is compatible with your Siesta Nasal Mask, as well as a standard-sized CPAP tube.

How long does my 3B Siesta Nasal CPAP Mask last?

CPAP masks can last up to 6 to 12 months, but proper cleaning techniques and maintenance can prolong your mask's life. Here is the recommended replacement schedule:

  • CPAP Mask Cushion: 3 to 6 months
  • CPAP Mask Headgear: 6 to 9 months

If your CPAP mask starts to lose its seal and the headgear or cushion becomes frayed, it's highly recommended to replace your mask, regardless of the guidelines above.

If I am a mouth breather, am I able to use the Siesta Nasal Mask?

You can use the Siesta Nasal Mask if you use a CPAP chinstrap. 3B Medical also has a Full Face Mask version of the Siesta which is designed specifically for mouth breathers.

Design much comfier than anything else I’ve used

I got this through Medicare this week, and was looking for extra parts. Seeing the reviews on here I felt like adding my opinion.

First, the picture portrayed when looking this up is incorrect- it is also the second picture in the group when you click on the nasal mask. There is no part going across your forehead, it looks like the other pictures, top part open and going just under your eyes to connect. The bottom strap going beneath your ears.

There wasn’t easy directions to follow with the one I received- print and pictures both very small, especially for older eyes. I finally figured out how the straps are supposed to fit and the other pictures of it on this site helped.

Mine is replacing a different type with magnetic fasteners on the jaw line that created TMJ for me.

After figuring out the straps, this one was amazingly comfortable! I have very sensitive, old skin (77yrs) and these straps do not irritate it.

Straps are meant to keep it lined up, NOT cinch it tightly or snuggly in place. So the places the Velcro attaches, on the outside of the strap should not be bothersome.

If you have the places it is attaching against your skin, you have it on incorrectly- try again!

Better directions with mine would have been nice, hopefully your initial kit will have better ones. If not, ask for help from supplier and whoever is supplying your Rx.

Advantages for me besides no jaw aching magnets:

    1. Total swivel of mask attachment to hose. My previous ones either were only…

    Good for big heads

Pros: Having all three nose cushion sizes is WONDERFUL for figuring out which one fits best. The nose cushion silicone part is thin, so very soft with a very flexible wedge at the nose bridge. Your nose smooshes into it with little pressure. The headgear is large with large crown area and long straps too. It has a little stretch but not overly stretchy, so good for fitting big heads. No magnets if that’s a problem for your pacemaker.

Cons: Headgear is too large for average to small women or men (I am 5.75foot averageBMI), I couldn’t adjust it enough to keep the nose cushion in the right place for maintaining seal with the mask - might be better for back sleepers. Can’t use Snugz mask liners - they crush the soft nose cushion. The clips on the bottom straps are not flat on the interior side and the strap guides stick out enough to dig into your chin; so I turned them over on the straps so the smooth side of the clip was against my face instead, but that requires the hooks connect from the backside of the mask which is awkward if you aren’t looking in the mirror. The air tube from mask to the hose is permanently attached at the mask and breathing through the air tube when not on the machine is not enough air, so must take off whole mask if you get up in the night.

    Headgear is big

Pros: all three sizes of the nose mask are included so that you can figure out which one fits you best instead of buying 3 masks. Kudos for that.

The silicone is very thin and there is a very flexible wedge across the bridge of your nose, so there is little pressure on your nose or under your nostrils. I didn’t have leak problems.

I think this mask might be best for sleeping on your back.

Cons: The headgear is big. If you have a small head or are a woman it likely won’t fit you well. Which is why I couldn’t keep the mask part in place.

The silicone is too soft to use Snugz mask liners without collapsing.

The plastic clips “strap aligners” are not flat on the face side where the headgear loops in and will dig into your chin if you sleep on your side. I flipped the clips over so the flat side was against my face but then you have to fight getting them hooked to the mask from the underside.

The headgear material is a little stretchy so it may grow bigger with use.

The small tubing connection at the nose is part of the headgear so you have to take the mask off or breathe through your mouth if you’re up in the night because disconnecting the tubing at the hose doesn’t allow much air to breathe through the mask without the machine.

    Good for Larger Heads

Pros: Getting all 3 sizes of the nose cushions is WONDERFUL for figuring out which one fits best. The nose cushion is very thin, soft silicone with a very flexible wedge across the bridge of the nose so it doesn’t take much pressure around your nose to seal. The head gear is large - big crown opening and long straps and it has a slight stretchiness to it. Good for a large head. No magnets if you have a pacemaker. Cons: The headgear is too large for average to small size women or small man. I am 5.75’ average BMI and couldn’t adjust it small enough to get the nose cushion to stay in place and stay sealed - may be better for a back sleeper. A Snugz mask liner will crush the soft nose cushion. The plastic clips are not flat on the back side, so the strap guides on the clip dig into your chin when against the pillow. I flipped the clips over on the straps so the flat side is against my face but it is difficult to hook the clip in from the back side without looking in the mirror. The breathing tube is permanently attached to the mask, and disconnecting from the hose to get up in the night is difficult to breathe through without the machine attached, so have to take the mask off to get up at night.
